KEVIN: Our whole world has shifted. In a recent Gallup poll, 60% of employees worldwide are experiencing emotional detachment at work.¹ People want connection. They want purpose. They want drive. From a workplace perspective, they want you to figure it out.

First, I want to start with Juli to give us background on Structural, an Augeo company and all things related to connection and community.

JULI: By way of background, Augeo is a global leader in enterprise engagement and loyalty platform technologies, and we're excited to share that we recently acquired Structural—an integrated community, mobility and connectivity platform technology and employee engagement software.

The acquisition represents the culmination of what we view as a strategic, multi-year partnership with a focus on advancing workplace engagement and organizational connectivity.

KEVIN: I want to explore what's happening in the marketplace. Sarita, you've got a great point of view on that.

SARITA: There's a new sense of urgency around fostering community and connection in the workplace, and companies are looking to be more deliberate about how to engage their workforce. Despite recessionary pressures, people should still feel that they have opportunities to grow and connect across your organization.

The bottom line is that when you drive engagement in the workplace, you drive productivity. We are finding a lot of focus on workplace culture that promotes a sense of belonging through an active community that inspires colleagues.

KEVIN: Juli, how do you define workplace culture?

JULI: An expression of culture is meant to communicate how employees at a company feel connected—how they are encouraged to participate. Your employees want benefits from you as an organization, and they want their contributions to your organization to be meaningful.

Organizations should empower a diverse, inclusive environment—enabling individual people and companies to succeed through cultural agility, moving through evolutions and transitions together. Cultural agility can accelerate human potential, retaining talent within an organization by leaning into what people care about.

Another pillar of workplace culture is surrounding people with a contemporary experience that is supportive of professional development—strengthened through the foundation of connection and community. Consider these questions:


  • Is your company culture authentic and supportive?
  • Do people enjoy the potential to participate in workplace community events?
  • Do your employees get together outside of the office?
  • Is your workplace flexible?
  • How do you express your appreciation and gratitude for your employees?
  • Do you have the desire for your employees to be your core focus?

As we think about employee engagement strategies beyond employee recognition programs, influencer marketing has started to emerge in the workplace—and we've found it to be critical in forming that sense of community. It enables people to become more connected in more meaningful ways.

Ultimately, people want to be where people are.
